on the 2nd. instant, I am directed to inform you that the Government has under consideration the question of building quarters at Kowloon for the Manager of the British Section of the Kowloon-Canton Railway, and that pending their construction His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to approve of the grant to you of a house-allowance of $75 per mensem, being the difference between what you will actually have to pay as house- -rent and the rental you might have expected to have to pay when you accepted the appointment of Manager.
